Criminal Procedure Moot Court Wins Nationals

4/04/07--This marks the second consecutive year the team has won the competition.

Moot Court Team4/4/07--Boston College Law School is pleased to announce that the BC Law Criminal Procedure Moot Court Team has won the national competition for the second year in a row, sweeping the overall competition and the awards.  The victory marks the second time in school history that a moot court team has won a national championship in two successive years.

In addition to winning the overall competition, the BC Law team was given the award for Best Brief. Scott Wilson also won the best oralist award.

"Our third-year students, Brian Bialas, Elizabeth Chew, and Scott Wilson were magnificent," said BC Law Professor and team advisor Robert Bloom. "Not only were Scott, Elizabeth and Brian great advocates, they were wonderful representatives of our school. I am so proud of their hard work and their significant accomplishment. Please join me in congratulating them, and many thanks to my colleagues who contributed to their preparation."

The competition was held this past week at Seton Hall School of Law in Newark New Jersey. 32 teams participated, including teams from William and Mary, New York University, Boston University, University of Virginia, and Georgetown.Moot Court Team with coach

The John J. Gibbons Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition, now in its thirteenth year, focuses on timely issues of criminal procedure and criminal law. The competition was held on Friday and Saturday at the Seton Hall School of Law. A luncheon followed the final round. Awards were given to the first and second place teams, semifinalists, best briefs for each party, best oralist in the preliminary rounds, and best oralist in the final round.
