Jessup Moot Court Team Wins Regionals
3/07/07--The BC Law Team swept all six arguments, and took home Best Memorial and Best Oralist awards.
3/07/07--Boston College Law School is pleased to announce that the School's Jessup Moot Court Team has won the Northeast Regional Championship, held this past weekend. The BC Law team defeated Harvard Law in the final argument, and was undefeated in all six arguments they faced.
"As their coaches, David Wirth, Joe Mueller, and I can attest that the team's well-deserved victory was the culmination of months of extremely hard work," said Director of Advocacy Programs Thomas Carey. "It was a truly remarkable performance. I'm very proud of all of them."
The team, made up of Alison Eggers, Jeremy Eggleton, Jane Harper, Samantha Massie, and Josh Skolnick, also won the Best Memorial Award, and Eggleton took home the Best Oralist Award.
Jessup is one of the oldest and most prestigious moot court competitions in the country. This year's problem involved State membership in international organizations, principles surrounding an international organization's responsibilities to non-member States and the rights and responsibilities of Member States vis-a-vis non-Member States. It also raised questions concerning the appropriate mechanism for resolution of disputes between international organizations and non-Member States.
The team will represent Boston College in the National and International Rounds in Washington, D.C., beginning March 25th. These rounds draw competitors from nearly 100 law schools from all over the world.
Jessup Moot Court is an international competition run by the International Law Students Association and the American Society of International Law. Over 500 teams compete across the world in various locations.
