Three 2004 CASE Awards for Law School Publications

3/04/04—Boston College Law School took home three awards from the recent CASE (the Council for Advancement and Support of Education) District 1 Conference, as BC Law Magazine won its second medal in as many years for overall excellence in design. The Law School also picked up medals for its 2004 Law Student’s Guide to Boston and its Curriculum Overview Brochure.

“The quality of the Law School’s communications, marketing, and public relations has never been so good,” said BC Law Dean John H. Garvey. “The work that Nate Kenyon has done on our print marketing is outstanding, and justly deserves CASE’s recognition. Vicki Sanders’s development of our Alumni magazine – both design and content – has made it one of the best in the country.”

BC Law Magazine, which is published twice a year in January and June, won a bronze medal for its Spring/Summer 2003 issue. It is the second CASE award in the 10-year-old alumni magazine’s history. The Magazine underwent major redesign last year. Design Consultant Mark Gabrenya worked with Editor in Chief Vicki Sanders to revamp the magazine’s mission, expand the opinion and legal trends section, broaden the scope of the features, and improve the faculty and alumni notes section. More photographs and illustrations also enhance the magazine’s new look.

"The fact that the magazine has won back-to-back awards is further testament to the success of our redesign and improved content,” said Sanders. “With the help of a talented team of contributors, I hope to keep reaching out to alumni with good stories that keep them in touch with the Law School community."

The Law School’s Curriculum Overview won a bronze in the catalog category, while the Law Student’s Guide to Boston won a bronze in the Student Handbook category. These medals add to the two previous CASE Awards (for the Profile Brochure and the Admissions Bulletin) won by the Law School during the past three years.

“We’re thrilled to receive this recognition by CASE,” said Nate Kenyon, Director of Marketing and Communications. “Both the Curriculum Overview and the Student Guide are reflections of the new branding efforts we have initiated during the past two years. These awards are a validation of that process, as well as a testament to the many fine people we have working here at the Law School.”
