Filippa Anzalone Hired to Head Law Library

Anzalone photoBoston College Law School is pleased to announce the hiring of Filippa Marullo Anzalone to the position of Associate Dean, Library and Computing Services, effective August 26, 2002. Anzalone will fill the position left by Sharon Hamby O’Connor, who will become Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at BC Law after 23 years of outstanding service to the Law Library.

"Filippa will bring a tremendous amount of energy and experience to this position," said BC Law Dean John H. Garvey. "It will be impossible to replace what Sharon has meant to our library, but Filippa is a wonderful addition to the community and will bring her own unique skills to the position. We are very lucky to have her."

Anzalone comes to BC from Northeastern University Law School where she has been leading the law library since 1993, most recently as Director of Information and Research Services and Professor of Law. She was also Acting Dean of University Libraries for the 2000/2001 Academic Year. Prior to entering academic law librarianship, Anzalone was Director of the Law Library at the Boston law firm of Bingham, Dana and Gould. She has also worked as a research librarian at Dike, Bronstein, Roberts, Cushman & Pfund, as a public library administrator at the Cambridge Public Library, and as the head children's librarian in the Medford Public Library.

Anzalone has published many articles, book chapters, book reviews and opinion pieces. She is a member of the executive committee of the New England Law Library Consortium, and a member of the Diversity Committee of the American Association of Law Libraries.

Anzalone received a S.M. from Simmons College Graduate School of Library Science in 1977, and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1985.
