Fishman Hired in Career Services

1/18/02--Boston College Law School is pleased to announce the hiring of Freda Fishman to the position of Associate Director of Career Services for Public Interest Programs, a position that was recently expanded in an effort to further strengthen the school’s leadership role in commitment to public interest careers. (See earlier story.)

"I can't think of anyone more qualified for this position than Freda Fishman," said Director of Career Services Jean French. "We feel fortunate that Freda has agreed to join us. She brings to the position a great deal of enthusiasm and over 18 years of public sector experience."

Since 1998 Fishman has served as chief of the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Division (CPAD) in the Attorney General’s office, where she supervised 40 attorneys and support staff. The CPAD is responsible for consumer protection and antitrust litigation for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Prior to that she served in the Attorney General’s office as an attorney in the environmental protection division, as deputy chief of the civil rights division and as deputy chief of the public protection bureau.

Before joining the Attorney General’s office she worked as director of investigations at the State Ethics Commission, associate general counsel at the Massachusetts Department of Correction, assistant corporation counsel for the City of Boston Law Department, and in private practice.

Fishman received her undergraduate degree in 1976 from Boston University and is a 1979 graduate of Boston University School of Law.
