boston college law library
The library has seven professional legal information librarians who help researchers locate appropriate information sources. Every librarian in this department has a J.D. as well as a master's degree in library and information science.
Legal information librarians do not practice law and therefore are not permitted to:
- conduct legal research for patrons
- provide legal advice or opinions
- read a legal authority over the phone, even if provided with a citation
During the academic year a legal information librarian is available to answer questions Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m .- 5 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
To speak to a legal information librarian stop by the Information Desk or call 617-552-4434.
You may also contact our reference staff via e-mail or chat. A reference librarian will respond to your e-mail within twenty-four hours.

Legal information librarians provide reference assistance in person and by phone.
