    BACKGROUND

Sharon Hamby O'Connor is a Professor Emerita at Boston College Law School. During her tenure at the Law School she served as Associate Dean for Library and Computing Services for 23 years.  In that capacity she was responsible, with the rest of the library staff, for providing academic, curricular and technology support to the Law School.  She completed her service at the Law School as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  in this position she worked with the Dean and faculty in areas of curriculum review, program development, and research and oversaw the deliver of academic services to students.

Professor O'Connor is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, holds masters degrees from Columbia University and Yale University in library science and environmental studies respectively, and a JD degree from Harvard Law School. She is the co-author of A Guide to the Early Reports of the Supreme Court of the United States which was awarded the Joseph L. Andrews Bibliographical Award for outstanding contribution to legal bibliography. She is a member of the Massachusetts Historical Society, the Colonial Society of Massachusetts, the American Association of Law Libraries, and the American Society for Legal History.

RECENT ACTIVITIES:

"Colonial Appeals to the Privy Council before American Independence" is in preparation as a web site, sponsored by the Ames Foundation.  The site will make briefs and related documents from these appeals available in digital form.

Presentations: Invited speaker at the upcoming annual meeting of the American Society for Legal History, Atlanta, Georgia, November 2011; invited speaker at the memorial service for Morris L. Cohen held at the Yale Law School, New Haven, Connecticut, May 1, 2011; also at the Yale Law School at its reception to recognize the gift of the Juvenile Jurisprudence collection to the Yale Law Library, December 2, 2009.

Appointments: Advisory, Harvard Law School Search Committee for Library Director, 2007-2008.  Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Harvard Law School Library, 2006; Visiting Scholar, Yale Law School, Spring 2005.
