Message from Joanne C. Locke '87, President of BCLaw School Alumni Association
Dear Classmates,
We have been receiving a steady response of acceptances to our first notice
about the Law School reunions, but we'd like to hear from many more of you.
From my perspective as a member of the class of 1987, a reunion is a particularly good time for reflection about our careers. Some of us are delighted with the paths we have taken; many others are not. A few have climbed the rungs to partnership in large firms, or carved a unique niche in a small and congenial organization. Others have left the profession altogether.
The reunion weekend can be a unique opportunity to share our experiences with one another, to reflect about all that has occurred since graduation, and to consider how we may want to shape the next decades of our professional lives. While the stereotype of a reunion may elicit unpleasant or comic scenarios in our minds, the real purpose of a reunion can be a valuable one. It provides a welcoming atmosphere in which to come together in a social setting, share memories, make renewed professional contacts, and develop new relationships with the spouses and kids of classmates. Some of you might want to combine the "college tours" of your high school kids with the reunion as there seems to be a major university on every block.
Boston has grown in stature since many of you were last here, and is considered to be a great cultural and family tourist destination. The Big Dig aside, we have developed terrific restaurants and nationally recognized museums, as well as many attractions that make for a wonderful family vacation. Finally, September is one of the best months to visit Boston: the tourist crowds are gone and the weather is usually beautiful. As the President of the Boston College Law School Alumni Association and a member of the Class of 1987, I encourage you to join us for our reunion during the weekend of September 20-22, 2002.
Sincerely,
Joanne C. Locke
