William McCormack '67 Appointed to LCL Lawyers Oversight Committee

The Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court, Boston, MA, today announced the appointment of William A. McCormack '67 of Weston to the Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers Oversight Committee for a four-year term, effective immediately. The term will expire on June 1, 2006. Established under Supreme Judicial Court Rule 4:07, the Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers Oversight Committee, comprised of six lawyers appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court, oversees the appropriate use of the fund for the operation of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, Inc. (LCL). Founded in 1978, LCL is an independent, private, non-profit Massachusetts corporation. The state's sole lawyer assistance program, LCL assists lawyers, judges and law students who are experiencing any level of impairment in their ability to function as a result of addiction, mental health, personal or medical problems. LCL works cooperatively with the Supreme Judicial Court, the Board of Bar Overseers, state and local bar associations, and the bar at large. William A. McCormack is a partner in the law firm of Bingham McCutchon LLP in Boston, where he has worked since 1969. He has been an adjunct faculty member of Boston College Law School since 1989, and is a lecturer at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. He received his B.A. degree from Boston College in 1964 and his L.L.B. Degree from Boston College Law School in 1967. Mr. McCormack is a member of the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
