Readiness Review
You may choose to perform a Readiness Review of the FMS Provider prior to approving them to provide service. This generally consists of an in-depth examination of the provider’s practices, mainly through its policies and procedures manual. It should be based on objective and measurable standards and criteria established by the program agency. A Readiness Review Protocol tool may be developed.
Under Veteran-Directed Home and Community-Based Services (VD-HCBS), a Readiness Review is always performed by a neutral third party, the National Resource Center for Participant-Directed Services. The FMS Readiness Review must be passed before a provider agreement can be executed with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. There is a separate Readiness Review tool for the Fiscal/Employer Agent and Agency with Choice models of FMS. The F/EA VD-HCBS Readiness Review can be found here.
