Professor Emeritus Receives CSWE Lifetime Achievement Award

Elaine Pinderhughes, Professor Emeritus, Boston College Graduate School of Social Work
Elaine Pinderhughes

APRIL 30, 2012

The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) has named Elaine Pinderhughes as the 2012 recipient of the Significant Lifetime Achievement in Social Work Education Award. Pinderhughes is professor emeritus at Boston College Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) and a member of the Advisory Board. She helped the GSSW establish the Pinderhughes Diversity Lecture Series, which bears her name and is now in its sixth year.

This award recognizes Pinderhughes for her longevity in the field of social work and her impact as a scholar, role model, and mentor to countless faculty and practitioners. Her textbook, Understanding Race, Ethnicity and Power: The Key to Efficiency in Clinical Practice, substantially changed the language of multiculturalism and human behavior in the practice arena and provided the rubric of culturally competent practice across human services disciplines.

Pinderhughes will be honored at the next CSWE Annual Program Meeting on November 9, 2012 in Washington, DC to be held at the Washington Hilton Hotel. For more information visit the CSWE website.
