Mildred "Mit" Joyner, current president of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), will give the "Greetings" at this year's Boston College Graduate School of Social Work Diploma Ceremony. Founded in 1952, CSWE is the sole accrediting agency for social work education in the U.S.
Ms. Joyner is a full professor and chair emerita of the undergraduate social work department at West Chester University (WCU). In the field of social work, her research interests include gerontology, child abuse, race relations, and lowering disparity factors among groups in the United States and the global community.
The 136th Commencement of Boston College will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012. The University Commencement, which is attended by all graduates, is held in Alumni Stadium (rain or shine) and will begin with the Academic Procession at 9:15 a.m. and end after approximately two hours. The Graduate School of Social Work Diploma Ceremony is held immediately after University Commencement at approximately noon on Burns Lawn (rain or shine).
