The Hartford/Gerontological Society of America (GSA) National Center on Gerontological Social Work Excellence has chosen Boston College to be one of the first Hartford Academic Centers of Excellence in Geriatric Social Work.

Christine Griffin, Law '73, Executive Director of The Disability Law Center, will be the featured speaker at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work 7th Annual Pinderhughes Diversity Lecture. Griffin will speak on "Diversity and Inclusion: When Will People with Disabilities Be Included?"
Griffin recently returned to The Disability Law Center as the Executive Director. Previously, she served as the Assistant Secretary for Disability Policies and Programs for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services.
A former active duty veteran and Lawyers Weekly "Lawyer of the Year," Griffin also served as Deputy Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. In 2005, she was sworn in to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and later was appointed by President Obama as its Acting Vice Chairman. Griffin is responsible for the creation and implementation of multiple groundbreaking initiatives in the disability rights arena.
