Professor Ruth McRoy, the Donahue/DiFelice Endowed Professor at Boston College Graduate School of Social Work, has been chosen to receive the SJU "Outstanding Scholar in Adoption Award." This award recognizes scholars with substantial contribution to the field of adoption and whose research and publications have substantially advanced our understanding of issues affecting the adoption community.

Peter Ducharme, MSW '08, was featured in the Boston Globe for his work with a video game prototype used in therapy to help children develop anger management skills.
Ducharme, a clinical social worker in the department of psychiatry at Children's Hospital Boston, is running the study. While playing the video game, trial patients wear a monitoring clip that allows them to succeed at the game only when their pulse dips below a resting rate. Ducharme teaches players deep breathing techniques that bring down their heart rates.

The 134th Commencement of Boston College will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010. The University Commencement which is held in Alumni Stadium (rain: Conte Forum) will begin with the procession at 9:30 a.m. and will take approximately two hours. The GSSW Diploma Ceremony is held at noon on Burns Lawn.
