Joseph Cioni

Joseph Cioni joins the Portico Program as a doctoral student in Boston College’s Philosophy Department. His dissertation is on the ethical thought of Bernard Lonergan and its application to the present mortgage crisis. For the past two years, he has held a teaching position in the Carroll School of Management's Introduction to Ethics course. Joseph introduced several primary ethical frameworks to first year Carroll School students and examined how these frameworks can be utilized in the acts of moral reasoning and decision-making.
Since 2005, he has held the position of instructor in Boston College's PULSE program where he lectured and led discussions centering on theology, ethics, and political philosophy. In addition to his doctoral studies, Joseph holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Washington College and a M.A. in Philosophy from Boston College.
