Consumers, Competition, & Choice
By this time next year, a telecommunications giant will be making its push into the Boston market stated Ed Whitacre, chairman and chief executive of SBC Communications Inc., at a luncheon meeting of the Chief Executives' Club of Boston. The Texas-based mega-Baby Bell plans to roll out a full range of products in Greater Boston next October, from local phone service to long distance to Internet access, all bundled into one. "We will give the customers what they want, the option of having one provider for all their communications needs, but only one bill," Whitacre said. Separately Whitacre told Bloomberg News that SBC is considering selling tracking stocks for its wireless and international business.
