James Parker, CEO of Southwest Airlines, addresses the Chief Executives' Club of Boston

James F. "Jim" Parker, Chief Executive Officer of Southwest Airlines, gave the keynote speech at Boston College's Chief Executives' Club of Boston luncheon on Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at the Boston Harbor Hotel's Wharf Room. As always, the luncheon drew a who's who crowd of Boston's elite business leaders.

Southwest Airlines' revenue was in excess of $5.5 billion last year, and it was the nation's only major airline to earn a profit in fiscal 2002. Well known for its innovative marketing, passenger service and airport selection strategies, Southwest Airlines' market capitalization (total stock market value) exceeded that of all other major airlines combined in 2002, according to company reports.

Southwest, a Dallas-based carrier, employs some 35,000 people. Its principal service locations to date in the Greater Boston area are at the T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI and Manchester Airport in Manchester, NH.
