Valecia Saunders | Headmaster, McKinley Schools
Velecia Saunders was born in Boston, Massachusetts and currently resides in Milton Massachusetts. She is the Headmaster of McKinley Schools in Boston Massachusetts. McKinley is a substantially separate public day school that serves students in grades K-12 at three separate locations who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe behavioral, psychological and/or emotional concerns. Velecia started her undergrad at UMass Lowell but received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Cambridge College after giving birth to her oldest daughter. Several years later she returned to Cambridge College and earned an M.Ed. Velecia started at McKinley Elementary as a classroom paraprofessional three months after her daughter was born and over the years was promoted on several occasions within the McKinley program. Her positions included Paraprofessional, Teacher, Instrumental Enrichment Consultant, Assistant Program Director, Program Director and currently Headmaster. Her twenty-two year journey within McKinley has been an incredible learning experience for her. She had her youngest daughter in 2010. She is a single mother of two beautiful daughters, one twenty-two and the other four. Velecia says her daughters and her students are her motivation for continuing to learn and find ways to assist the incredible population of students and families that enter the McKinley program.
