The Lynch Leadership Fellows are encouraged to think outside of their familiar environments by observing exemplary schools in neighborhoods, districts, and cities outside of their own. The Fellows see models of successful schools and can apply observed best practice models to their schools, districts, and neighborhoods.
Each cohort participates in an out-of-state school visit as well as Critical Friends Groups’ school visits. The out-of-state school visits allow participants to observe effective practices at several schools and are differentiated by leader need. During these visits, Fellows meet with school leaders and their leadership teams about implementation of those effective practices as well as the challenges and successes they have faced as school leaders. The Critical Friends Group school visits provide Fellows the opportunity to visit each other’s schools to observe promising practices. During these visits, Fellows give and receive feedback from their peers, build their own practices by borrowing from one another, and continue to build a community of practice.
