Tom Nunan, Jr. | Principal, Saint Joseph Preparatory High School
Tom Nunan was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, went to high school in Los Angeles, California, and has his B.A. in Philosophy and his M.Ed. in Religious Education from Boston College. After graduating from BC in 1984, Tom spent a year in the Jesuit Novitiate of the New England Province, located at 300 Newbury Street (the best address he will ever have). After thoughtful reflection and prayerful discernment, Tom pursued his vocation as a an educator, landing a job teaching Theology & Philosophy and coaching soccer and hockey at St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, MA. Tom spent 27 years as an Arrow at St. Sebastian’s, overseeing two NEASC Accreditations as well as directing the Senior Service Program, the Grade Level Retreat Programs, and the New Orleans Service Trip; he was served Theology Chair. Tom is in his first year as Head of School at the newly formed Saint Joseph Preparatory High School in Boston, MA. Saint Joseph Prep is the coming together or Trinity Catholic High School and Mount Saint Joseph Academy, and it is sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston. Tom and his wife Nancy currently reside in Attleboro, but are hoping to move to the Boston area soon. They have been married for 25 years, and they have a son, Tom (St. Sebastian’s 2011, Harvard 2015) and a daughter, Alex (Bishop Feehan 2013, Boston College 2017).
When he has the time, Tom enjoys running, dining, reading poetry, and especially playing golf.
