Samantha Varano | Assistant Principal, Thomas A. Edison K-8 School
After completing her undergraduate studies in 2002 at Wheelock College Sam Varano started her career in education as a 6th grade Science and Social Studies teacher in Boston Public Schools at the Edison Middle School. From 2005-2007 she worked as a mentor teacher and Site Director for the Boston Teacher Residency Program. After completing seven years in the classroom and obtaining a Masters degree in Educational Administration at UMass Boston, Sam was hired as Assistant Principal of the newly formed Edison K8 School in 2009. For the last four years Sam has worked with her leadership team to create a high functioning school that services students and their families from Kindergarten thru eighth grade in a variety of academic and social emotional strands. While completing her administrative duties Sam also works with the Office of Educator Effectiveness teaching courses on the new Educator Evaluation Tool. On her down time, Sam enjoys time with her husband and 2 year old son.
