Carroll School of Management graduate students volunteered eight hours of their time to the West End House Boys and Girls Club (WEH) for Spring Jesuit Day of Service on Saturday, March 31. An unprecedented number of students RSVP’d for the seventh annual Spring Day of Service event including full-time and part-time MBA, MSF and MSA students.
For the second consecutive year, Boston College partnered with the WEH in Allston, MA on various projects to improve the Club’s conditions in anticipation of their annual fundraising event to be held later this spring, including interior and exterior cleaning, meal preparation, data entry and general organization. This outreach embodies Boston’s College belief that with privilege comes responsibility.
According to Ashley Goliti, Volunteer Coordinator for the WEH, “We had a great day of service this year and are so appreciative for all of the projects that these volunteers helped us complete. It was a pleasure to work with such thoughtful and hardworking volunteers who truly understood the impact that they were making with their time."
When asked what their favorite aspect of the day was, students noted:
“It was good to meet different BC students in the program that I might otherwise not have had a chance to connect with.”
“Getting a tour and seeing that I was truly making an impact”
“The tour of WEH, it really put into perspective why we were there.”
Located in Allston, WEH is an independent Boys and Girls Club in the City of Boston that has been transforming the lives of immigrant and urban youth since its founding in 1906. For more information on the West End House Boys and Girls Club, please visit: http://westendhouse.org/.
