Waitlist Information
Information for Graduate Management Admissions
Being placed on the waiting list for the Boston College Carroll School of Management Graduate Programs is an indication that our Admissions Committee has identified many positive aspects of a candidate's profile. Waitlisted candidates are still viable candidates who we feel might be a wonderful match for the institution. The fact that we were unable to admit them is reflective of how selective our process has become over the past several years.
Here are some things to keep in mind during the waiting list period:
- The Admissions Committee will not begin to render final decisions on waitlisted candidates until receipt of the first round of admission responses. Final decisions will be rendered throughout the entire admissions cycle should space in the program become available.
- Candidates are not encouraged to send email inquiries or make frequent calls to check on their waiting list status. If any action is taken on your waitlisted application, you will receive e-mail notification.
- Waitlisted candidates are encouraged to benchmark themselves against our Class Profile to identify areas for improvement. If you find yourself below average in the criteria evaluated for admission, the following are steps you can take to strengthen your candidacy in that area:
1. GPA/Academic Coursework - If you find yourself with a GPA not reflective of your academic abilities, you may be able to provide supplementary information to the Admissions Committee. Perhaps you have enrolled in business-related classes at a local university or community college. If this is the case, please send a copy of your transcript by e-mail to the Admissions Office.
2. GMAT and GRE - Pearsonvue and ETS offer offer frequent test dates. If your current score is below our average, we recommend that you take the test again. The Admissions Committee takes into consideration your highest test score. Please self-report your new score on your test day either by e-mail or fax (617-552-8078).
3. Recommendations - If you feel that an additional recommendation will add support to your waitlisted application, you may ask a 3rd recommender to submit a letter on your behalf. In order to do so, please provide us the contact information of your additional recommender by e-mail. Please include your additional recommender's name, mailing address, professional e-mail address, title, organization, and relationship to you.
While there are no guarantees, your commitment to strengthening your application in these ways will be positively perceived by the Admissions Committee.
