Gergana Nenkov

Professor Nenkov received her PhD from the Katz Business School at the University of Pittsburgh, and her BA from the American University in Bulgaria. Her research focuses on factors that affect consumers’
effective self-control and effortful goal pursuit in important consumer domains such as dieting and money management. She has looked at the effects of pre-decision consideration of potential outcomes on consumers' self-regulation and their susceptibility to decision-making biases.

Her research has been presented at major marketing conferences such as the Association for Consumer Research, Society for Consumer Psychology, and Marketing Science and has been accepted for publication at the Journal of Consumer Research.

Professor Nenkov's research papers include: “Considering the Future: The Conceptualization and Measurement of Elaboration on Potential Outcomes” (with J. Inman and J. Hulland), “Moderators of the Susceptibility to Descriptive Variance Effects in Investment Decision Making” (with J. Inman, J. Hulland, and M. Maureen), and "Effects of Pre-Decision Deliberation on Effortful Goal Pursuit: The Moderating Role of Goal Commitment" (with P. Gollwitzer).

Her teaching interests include consumer behavior, marketing principles, and global marketing. She is currently teaching the Marketing Principles class to undergraduates.
