Betty received a B.B.A. at The College of William and Mary and a Ph.D. at University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has teaching interests in the freshman Portico course, financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and ethics.

Her current research interests are in interdisciplinary research and ethics. She has published finance and accounting articles in The Accounting Review, The Journal of Finance, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Managerial and Decision Economics.
