What is VOICES?

VOICES is the academic journal of the Women's and Gender Studies Program of Boston College. A student-run publication, the format of VOICES has over the past two years transitioned from a newsletter to an academic journal that is committed to publishing student papers concerning women's and gender studies themes from a range of fields, including literature, sociology, psychology, history, and the sciences.

VOICES is a forum for students to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in women's and gender studies at Boston College. We seek to give voice to our undergraduate and graduate students whose knowledge is vast but largely unpublished. Especially in the area of Women's and Gender Studies and feminism, the ties between far-ranging topics — from physics to history to linguistics to education — often go unrecognized. VOICES celebrates these interdisciplinary connections.
