The Women's and Gender Studies Program encourages feminist undergraduate and graduate scholarship. Described below are award opportunities for undergraduates.

The Janet James Award

Every spring, during commencement week, the Women's and Gender Studies Program grants an award to a Senior distinguished for scholarship in Women's and Gender Studies.

Janet James (1918-1987), a pioneer in the field of women's history, joined the Boston College community as Professor of History in 1971.

Academic Writing Awards

Additional smaller awards are given for the best writing related to women's issues and women's studies scholarship in the areas of humanities, social sciences, and sciences.
