BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

Jillian Stout Maxey is a Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Theology. She focuses on contemporary Christian-Jewish dialogue and Comparative Theology and Interreligious Dialogue methodology. Her dissertation, Walking with the Wise: Interreligious Dialogue as Relational and Transformative, incorporates oral history research with leading scholars and practitioners in Christian-Jewish dialogue including, John T. Pawlikowski, Mary C. Boys, Eugene Fisher, Michael McGarry, Franklin Sherman, Alice Eckardt and Celia Deutsch that explores how interreligious friendship informs personal identity and theology.

More broadly, Jillian is interested in the interplay among the grassroots, scholarly and ecclesial spheres of interreligious dialogue, power and gender in dialogue, and the question of what happens “after dialogue.” In other words, how are individuals and communities affected by the dialogical encounter with the other and with other religious communities.

Jillian has served as the President of the Boston College Graduate Student Association, has coordinated and planned several conferences and research symposia, and was the web and newsletter layout editor for Catholic Theological Ethics in the World Church (CTEWC). She is a member of CTS, AAR and is currently co-convener of the Christianity and Judaism Consultation of the CTSA.

Jillian grew up in Reading, PA and currently lives in Weymouth, MA with her husband, Colin, and daughter, Lilly.
