Avery Gordon

The Sociology Department hosts two major events series: the Distinguished Visiting Scholar Series, funded by Robert and Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, and the periodic (generally bi-weekly) Departmental Seminars.

Our visiting distinguished visiting scholar for 2012-13 was Avery Gordon, a Ph.D. graduate of our department, currently Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Visiting Faculty at the Centre for Research Architecture, Goldsmiths College, University of London.

See our Departmental Seminar page for a list of the other fascinating scholars who will be presenting their research in a seminar format during the coming academic year.

We welcome you to attend these events and become engaged with our department! Note that both the public lectures and the seminars are free to everyone, but you are requested to email sociology@bc.edu for the seminars so that we can anticipate attendance.
