Deciding to Study Abroad

Plan Early

Spring Semester of Freshman Year or Fall Semester of Sophomore Year
  • Contact the B.C. International Programs Office (Hovey House):
  • Make sure you are aware of the requirements for your potential major.
  • Make sure that you are aware of the requirements of your school (e.g., A&S, SOM) in order to be approved for study abroad.

Contact the Premedical Office

Fall Semester of Sophomore Year

Pick up and read the Sophomore Advising Packet (available in the Premedical Office, Higgins Room 648).

After you have completed one year of academic work and carried out the three recommendations listed above, you should make an appointment to meet with a staff member in the Premedical Programs Office to discuss your plans (617-552-4663). Most students interested in studying abroad contact the Premedical Office in the fall of their sophomore year, as by that time they know if their grades are in the "competitive range" for admission to health professions graduate school, and this allows for more effective planning.
