Cellist Junko Fujiwara Simons is both a creative musician/improviser and an active classical player. She has performed with Allan Chase, Laurence Cook, Luther Gray, Katt Hernandez, Jim Hobbs, Charlie Kohlhase, Steve Lantner, Joe Morris, Nat Mugavero, Jeff Platz, John Voigt and Jane Wang. Junko Simons has also participated in composer/conductor Lawrence "Butch" Morris' "Conduction" series, Lance Bryant's Lyricalia Quintet, and is also a member of the classical chamber group the Kalliope Piano Trio and the Metal and Glass Ensemble, a Boston-based group, which plays acoustic, microtonal music.

Ms. Simons is an adjunct faculty in the Ipswich Public School system and at Phillips Academy Andover. She also is a private cello instructor. Currently, she produces and performs in her monthly Green Umbrella series at Outpost 186 in Cambridge, MA.
