Auditions

The Boston College Symphony Orchestra performs major orchestra works (such as the symphonies of Beethoven, Dvorak, Mendelssohn, and Tchaikovsky) under the direction of John Finney.

Orchestra rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Auditions for the Boston College Symphony Orchestra will take place on the following days in 2012:

Monday, September 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Tuesday, September 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Thursday, September 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Players interested in auditioning will need to sign up on line.  The tool will be available to sign up for an audition on this page beginning on August 29, 2012 thru September 13, 2012

If all the times are taken or if a player is not available during any of the times, they should feel free to email the Conductor, John Finney, at finneyj@bc.edu to arrange a convenient time to audition.

For the audition, each player should prepare a solo (a movement from a sonata or concerto, or any other solo, or an orchestral excerpt); they will also be asked to play scales appropriate to their instrument, and to sight-read a short passage of orchestral music.

Anyone with questions about the orchestra or auditions should email the Conductor, John Finney, at finneyj@bc.edu.
