Nadia Smith teaches Modern History I and II, with a focus on cultural and social history. She received her PhD in history from Boston College. A specialist in modern British and Irish history, her research has been supported by fellowships from the U.S. Fulbright Commission and the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences. 

Professor Smith is the author of A ‘Manly Study’? Irish Women Historians, 1868-1949 (Basingstoke and New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2006) and Dorothy Macardle: A Life (Dublin: Woodfield Press, 2007), a biography of a twentieth-century Irish writer.
