Bapst art resources include all major art databases, an extensive reference collection, approximately 200 serials, many CD-ROMs, and over 27,000 Fine Arts volumes. Extensive Internet resources include access to the AMICO Image Library, which will include 250,000 digital images by the end of 2003.
McMullen Museum of Art
As a University museum, the McMullen mounts interdisciplinary exhibitions distinct from those in public museums. Through the Museum, the expertise of Boston College faculty from a variety of academic disciplines reaches students as well as the broader academic community in New England and the public at large. The Museum displays its notable permanent collection and mounts exhibitions of international scholarly importance from all periods and cultures of the history of art. Exhibitions are accompanied by scholarly catalogues and free lectures, symposia, concerts, films, and theatrical productions. Previous exhibitions of note include Memory and the Middle Ages, J.M.W. Turner and the Romantic Vision of the Holy Land and the Bible, Saints and Sinners: Caravaggio and the Baroque Image, and Edvard Munch: Psyche, Symbol and Expression; and have received as many as 66,000 visitors.
