Elfriede Fürsich, Ph.D.

Elfriede Fürsich specializes in issues of media globalization, journalism, popular culture, and mobility. She has investigated discourses on globalization in a variety of media ranging from travel programs and business journalism to music reviews and African Internet sites.
She also wrote an expert report on “Media and the Representations of Others” for the UNESCO World Report “Investing in Cultural Diversity and Intercultural Dialogue” (2010). Her current research explores the creation of a participatory public sphere under the conditions of media digitalization and global mobility.
In 2005, she was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Hyderabad, India. She currently is a Visiting Professor at Freie Universität Berlin.
