Discussions of Topics in the Responsible Conduct of Research (2008-09 Academic Year)
These are monthly gatherings over lunch (12:00 noon – 1:00 pm) to discuss an topic in the responsible conduct of research. There is a short presentation at the beginning of the hour followed by a general discussion of the issues and/or a relevant case. Some sessions have an recommended short reading; some include a guest participant/presenter.
All members of the BC research community are invited to attend: faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduates involved in research. You are welcome to attend just one or two sessions, or the entire series. Those who attend all seven sessions can be certified as having completed an RCR education program.
Bring your own bag lunch. Beverages and cookies will be provided. All sessions are in Higgins 345, unless otherwise indicated. If possible, RSVP to email@example.com so we will have a rough count of those attending.
NOTICE: The RCR program is being reconstituted and we hope to begin offering RCR sessions as soon as possible.

Professional Skills and Ethics Workshops (2008-09 Academic Year)
These workshops are designed to help graduate students and post-doctoral fellows increase their professional skills and ethical awareness. They are patterned on the workshops offered by the Survival Skills and Ethics Program at the University of Pittsburgh. Although developed with grad students and post-docs in mind, the workshops are open to all members of the BC research community. Generally held in the evening, the workshops combine plenary presentations with discussions. A buffet dinner is included and there is no charge to attend. However, registration is required by sending an email message with your name and school or departmental affiliation to email@example.com.
During the 2008-09 academic year, the following workshops will be offered. The link from the workshop title will give you more information on the workshop (if it is available) and resources on the topic. The link from the date will take you to information on registering. If you have questions, please contact Stephen Erickson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTICE: Due to personnel shortages, we have had to suspend our RCR programming for the 08-09 academic year. We will continue to update this website, but there will be no events held.
