Denmark—Mind the Gap—Employee Perspectives

by Julie A. Norstrand

November 2010—Mind the Gap-Denmark Employee Perspective looks into the workplace experience of the Danish workforce. The report shows that Denmark boasts a generally high quality of employment, particularly in terms of workplace flexibility and compensation and benefits. However, while there is an overall high level of satisfaction owing particularly to flexible compensation schemes, there also is a notable proportion of workers who report not being paid well for the work they do. This is accompanied by a majority sense among Danish workers that their jobs do not offer good prospects for career advancement. This new paper in the Global Perspectives Institute’s Mind the Gap series explores Danish employees’ views and expectations of their quality of employment—and what this might mean for businesses looking to operate in Denmark.
