About One-third of Women Aged 50+ Never Held a Full-time Career Job

"Among older Americans with work experience since age 50, approximately 12 percent of men and 32 percent of women never held a full-time career job*," according to a 2012 analysis of data from the longitudinal Health and Retirement Study.

*Career job is defined as a job in which an individual works 1,600 or more hours per year for at least 10 years.
