Take Back The Night
Held annually during Concerned About Rape Education Week, Take Back the Night is the centerpiece of the week committed to raising awareness about rape and sexual assault. It is a powerful event in which survivors of rape and sexual assault tell their stories in front of a large group of their peers.
Take Back the Night creates a community of support for survivors who speak at the event as well as for those in the audience who have personally experienced, or know someone who has experienced, sexual violence. Men in the audience are called forward to take the Men’s Pledge by which they state their commitment to putting a stop to sexual violence.
After the survivors speak, everyone in the audience is handed a glowstick and encouraged to light up and take back spaces on campus where they ever felt unsafe as their own.
Thanks to all who attended and participated in Take Back The Night 2014! Stay tuned to learn the date of Take Back the Night 2015.
