Big & Little Sisters Program

file

The Big and Little Sisters program is a mentoring program which matches first year women (Little Sisters) with upperclasswomen (Big Sisters) in order to ease the transition to college for freshwomen. Pairs are matched based on major, hobbies, hometown, and interest in extracurricular activities. Over the course of the year, matches attend monthly events with other pairs; previous events have included a trip to a food festival, an ice cream social, pottery painting, and a holiday party. Each Big Sister will be responsible for planning events and being available as a source of support for their Little Sister throughout the duration of the Little Sister's first year at Boston College.

The Women's Resource Center Staff is assisted in running the program by the Big and Little Sisters Program Advisory Council, a group of five women who are Big Sisters and have been involved in the program for at least one year. The Advisory Council helps in event-planning and general oversight of the program.

Being a Little Sister is a great opportunity to make a connection with an upperclasswoman who can help you navigate your first year at Boston College.

The Big Sister application for the Big & Little Sister Program for 2012-13 has now closed. We will be accepting applications for Little Sisters (incoming freshwomen of the class of 2017) this summer so please keep an eye out for applications!
