university health services
The sports medicine staff is responsible for the health care needs of athletes in one of the largest intercollegiate programs in the United States. This program includes more than 800 student-athletes in 33 varsity sports. Services include pre-partipation physicals, on-site first aid and treatment of all athletic injuries, instruction in rehabilitation and return to full participation in all intercollegiate sports, including those returning from surgical intervention. Admissions to our overnight infirmary for observation and nursing care are also available as needed.
Student-athletes at Boston College receive the finest medical care available for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of athletic injuries. Four team physicians serve as the medical corps for the Sports Medicine Department. They include an orthopedic surgeon, sports medicine/emergency physician specialist, an internist and a general practitioner. Specialists are on call daily for consultation on the care and treatment of injuries, while the medical staff confers as needed with numerous other medical specialists in the greater Boston area.
