Beinecke Brothers Memorial Scholarship
university fellowships committee
Sophomores and Juniors may apply.
The Beinecke Brothers Memorial Scholarship Program offers generous funding for graduate study in all fields of the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Boston College is one of a select number of American universities and colleges invited to nominate candidates for the Beinecke Scholarship. The Beinecke Program is most interested in supporting those who, for financial reasons, face the prospect of not being able to pursue graduate studies. The scholarship consists of a grant of $4,000 made to the student upon completion of his or her undergraduate education, and $15,000 per year for two years of graduate school.
Candidates for the Beinecke Scholarship must be nominated by the Boston College Beinecke Nominating Committee. Interested students should contact the Boston College Campus Coordinator for the Beinecke Scholarship for information and application forms.
To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens, in their Junior year, and planning to enter a master's or doctoral program in the arts, humanities or social sciences. (Students in the social sciences who plan to pursue graduate study in neuroscience should not apply for a Beinecke Scholarship.) During the selection process, the amount of financial need will be one of the factors considered, with preference being given to candidates for whom the awarding of a scholarship would significantly increase the likelihood of the student’s being able to attend graduate school. Applicants therefore must be able to document their financial need.
Applications require Boston College's endorsement by our Beinecke Campus Coordinator, and all application materials must be submitted to the Campus Coordinator no later than December 1.
To be competitive, interested students should contact the Beinecke Campus Coordinator during the previous Spring semester, to begin preparing their applications.
Students interested in the Beinecke Scholarships are urged to talk with the Boston College Beinecke Campus Coordinator. If you would like additional information about these awards and the application process before talking with the Campus Coordinator, consult the Beinecke Scholarship web site.
