ACC/IAC Awards

university fellowships committee

Sophomores and Juniors may apply.

The Atlantic Coast Conference International Academic Collaborative (ACC/IAC) is a joint effort to expand study-abroad opportunities and to realize the potential of global collaborations for research and service. The ACC Education Abroad Scholarships serve the purpose of encouraging greater participation in study-abroad experiences supported by ACC institutions. The recognition of outstanding students in specific overseas programs highlights the diversity and scope of the program sponsored by ACC schools. Scholarship recipients are featured on the ACC/IAC and OIP websites.

Five ACC/IAC Awards in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded annually to Boston College students who are going abroad on BC semester, year-long, or summer programs administered by the Center for International Partnerships and Programs (OIP). Scholarships will be primarily awarded to BC students applying for programs in under-represented destinations abroad.

To be eligible for an ACC/IAC Award, applicants must meet all Boston College study-abroad requirements and have submitted a preliminary application to OIP for a BC semester, year-long, or summer program. In addition, applicants must submit:

  • A completed ACC/IAC award application form;
  • A 500-word personal statement about how an ACC/IAC award and study abroad will complement the applicant's academic goals at Boston College;
  • Two letters of recommendation.

Applications must be submitted to the Campus Coordinator for the ACC/IAC Awards, no later than January 15. Interested students are urged to contact the Coordinator well before the formal deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

All students with an interest in the ACC/IAC Awards are urged to talk with the Boston College Campus Coordinator. If you would like additional information about the awards and the application process before talking with the Campus Coordinator, consult the ACC/IAC Awards web site.
