Organizing Your Site: Adding, Editing, Deleting and Sorting Topics

Topics are the main organizational groups in MediaKron. When you create a topic, the title of the topic will show in the left sidebar of your MediaKron project. Each media item you add to MediaKron will be associated with a topic.

How to Add a Topic
To create a Topic, first be sure that you are logged into your MediaKron site, and then select Manage Project.

From the left sidebar menu, select Organize.

Here you will see the Organize screen, where all of the media content in your site is organized. Select Add a Topic to create a new topic.

In the space provided, enter the name and description for the new topic. You can style this description text as you wish using the editing toolbar, such as making the words bold, italic and underlined. You can also use the copy and paste functions to create this content.

If you would like to associate an image with your new topic, select Choose File. Select an image from your hard drive and then select Open. This file must be less than 10 MB and must be a .png, .gif, .jpg, or .jpeg file. When you are done creating your Topic, click Save.

The new topic now appears in the list of topics on the Organize page. Here, the new topic is titled Test Topic.

How to Add a Sub-topic
To add a Sub-topic, follow the instructions above to add a new topic. Once your topic has been created, use the crosshair grab tool to position the topic below and slightly indented from a main topic.

This will create a sub-topic within the main topic. Make sure to select the Save button when you are finished reorganizing topics. Please note: MediaKron only allows one level of sub-topic below each topic; a sub-sub-topic is not permitted and will not save correctly.

How to Edit a Topic
From the Organize space, locate the topic you would like to edit. Under Operations, click on the pencil icon.

This will bring you to an editing space, where you can use the tools to edit the topic text as you wish. You may also change or add an image to the topic here as well. When you are done editing the topic, click Save.

The edits to your topic should appear on the Organize list. A message like the one below should appear above the Organize list, verifying that the Topic has been updated.

How to Delete a Topic
From the Organize space, locate the topic you would like to delete. Under Operations, click on the trash can icon.

You will be asked if you are sure you would like to delete this topic. If so, click Delete. If you would no longer like to delete this topic, click Cancel.

Once the topic has been deleted, you will see that it no longer appears in the Organize list. A message, like the one below, will verify that the topic has been deleted.
If the deleted topic has media items associated with it,
those media items will still exist under the Content menu,
but will no longer be associated with a topic. If those
media items should appear in the project, they will need
to be edited to associate them with another topic.

How to Sort Topics
If you would like to change the order of topics or content, you can rearrange it by using the cross-hair grab tool. This
tool is located to the left of the topic title. Drag the topic or
content up or down in the Organization list as desired.

*Please note that you must click on the cross-hair grab tool icon rather than the item name, in order to move it. Once you move the item, the following message will appear:
This is reminder to scroll down to the bottom of the page and
click Save once you have finished organizing your content.
