There are a variety of ways faculty and staff can utilize the resources of VSLC :

Our database if available to anyone in the BC community looking to volunteer in the greater Boston community on a regular basis.

If you would like to develop an experiential learning opportunity within a course you are designing, please make an appointment with the VSLC at least 2 months prior to the class beginning.  We are happy to assist you in navigating the database or engaging a community partner.

Do you know a student discerning a year or more of full-time service after graduation?  Check out our Post Grad Volunteer Programming.

Are you interested in a departmental or team project or service experience? Please contact the VSLC at least 2 months in advance for assistance.

The VSLC offers a number of ways for the faculty/staff community at Boston College to be involved with issues of service and justice:

  • Eagle Volunteers
Eagle Volunteers is a program that gives the BC community the chance to volunteer one-time or as often as their schedule allows.  Transportation is provided.
  • ELL Summer
During the summer months, our ELL program is open to faculty/staff tutors partnering with our BC staff and faculty who would like to work on their English language skills.
  • VSLC Summer Book Swap
Faculty and staff are invited to swap and/or donate books at this annual event. Remaining books are donated to More Than Words, a local non-profit working with at-risk youth.

For more information about any of our programs or for ways to get involved with the VSLC, please stop by our offices in McElroy 114, call 617-552-1317, or email volunteer@bc.edu
