Insurance

Gallagher Koster is pleased to offer Boston College students a comprehensive personal-property plan that provides tremendous property protection for students at extremely competitive rates, along with an exclusive ZERO deductible plan.

This specially designed insurance plan will cover losses that a Homeowner’s Policy generally does not. Coverage includes, but is not limited to, damage to computers, cell phones, books, clothes, and electronics. Students who suffer a financial loss to their personal property as a result of theft, fire, water damage, accidental damage, vandalism, flood, earthquake, etc. will be insured and protected by this policy.

Benefits for Students:

  • A $0 Deductible Plan exclusively offered through Gallagher Koster
  • Replacement Cost Value Coverage
  • Attractive pricing
  • Worldwide protection
  • Full 12-month policy period, including semester breaks and summer months
  • Easy online claims filing and tracking 24/7

For an overview of the different plans, please view the Personal Property Brochure, or visit Gallagher Koster's web site to get additional information and enroll online.

Parking Notice

Please be reminded that only cars with valid parking permits are allowed to be parked on campus. Cars that do not have a valid permit will be ticketed and/or towed.

For policies and questions about parking, please visit BC Transportation & Parking.

Financial Obligations

Any student with an outstanding financial obligation as of August 27 will have their Meal Plan suspended. If you have an outstanding balance on your student account, please contact the Office of Student Services at (617) 552-3300.

Living Off-Campus

If you are not planning to return to on-campus housing for the 2011-2012 academic year and have not notified our office, please fill out a Leave of Absence form on the Agora Portal. Failure to notify Residential Life could result in a loss of future on campus housing.

Safety and Security

Safety and security is a priority at Boston College. We want to ensure that your room/suite/apartment is as safe as possible.

Please note: Candles, incense, and other sources of open flame; torchière style-halogen lights and lamps; two-prong extension cords; and personal mattresses and egg-crate mattress pads will be confiscated and discarded without compensation to the owner.

Regular Health & Safety Inspections will be conducted in all residential areas to ensure your room is safe and secure. To learn more, check our Safety & Security Policies.

Damage Reports

Every summer, the Office of Residential Life and Facilities Services sends out a team to inspect and report on the condition of each living space at Boston College. Prior to check-in, the latest inspection of the rooms and their furniture is placed online. After check-in, it is the responsibility of each resident on campus to confirm the results of this inspection.

Residents are urged to report discrepancies that they find between the conditions listed online and what they find in their room upon check-in. If no discrepancies are reported, it is assumed that the resident has agreed with the University's inspection results.

During the academic year (Health & Safety inspections) and upon check-out, all rooms are inspected again. If the condition of the room differs from the initial inspection, the residents of the room will be charged for any damages or excessive trash.

This mandatory process is completed by using the Room Inventory form within My ResLife on the Agora Portal. This form must be completed before the first day of classes to be considered valid.

Please note: The Room Inventory form does not generate a Work Order. If any Facilities issues need immediate attention, please submit a Work Order via the Agora Portal.

Moving and Storage Units

No personal moving companies, door-to-door, or storage units (a/k/a PODs) will be allowed onto campus. A limited number of carts are available at some residence halls. It is recommended that you bring your own dolly or cart to facilitate your move.

Since Boston College has no on-campus storage facility, BC Student Agencies has contracted Piece by Piece Storage to handle all summer, semester, and year-long storage. For information, please visit PieceByPieceStorage.com's page for BC students.

Piece by Piece Storage is the only storage company authorized by Boston College to be on campus. Therefore, any business done with other companies cannot be guaranteed.
