Hilary joined the Campus Recreation staff as the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness in June 2012. She oversees the operation of the Group Fitness Program, Personal Training Program, Small Group Fitness Program, and Wellness Program in collaboration with other campus departments.

Prior to joining the recreation staff Hilary worked in corporate fitness as a Health Fitness Professional for Health Fitness Corporation. She served as a Graduate Intern at Southern Connecticut State University’s Fitness Center, and has worked as a group fitness instructor and personal fitness trainer. Before entering the field of fitness she worked as a Copy Editor for Modern Healthcare magazine.

Hilary received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Loyola University Chicago and her Master of Science in Exercise Science – Human Performance from Southern Connecticut State University.

 

Jeannette Romeo

Jeannette began working at Boston College in 1980 and spent 32 years as an administrator working in a variety of departments across the campus.  She assumed her role as Group Fitness Coordinator at the Flynn Recreation Complex in August 2012.

Jeannette’s life passion for fitness inspired her to become certified as a personal trainer in 1994 and since then continued her education in the fitness industry. She began teaching group fitness classes at the Plex in 2005.

Megan is currently pursuing her Master's in Business Administration (M.B.A.) while working as our Graduate Assistant for Fitness. She earned a B.S. in Health Promotion and Education, Option in Exercise and Health from Oklahoma State University.

 

The fitness attendants provide customer service to members and facility oversight. They staff the main fitness wing to provide assistance to members by spotting lifts or helping with equipment set-up, maintaining facility organization and cleanliness, enforcing policies, responding to emergencies, and offering fitness area and equipment orientations when scheduled. All staff in this role must be adult CPR/AED certified upon hire, and able to lift 45 lbs.

The group fitness instructors lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes in a variety of disciplines. The class format individual instructors teach vary based upon ability, training, and certification. All instructors strive to lead the best classes by maintaining a positive and helpful attitude, preparing music and workouts in advance, maintaining room cleanliness and equipment organization, recording class attendance, enforcing policies, and responding to emergencies.  

All staff in this role must be adult CPR/AED certified upon hire, and able to lift 45 lbs. Additionally, certification and training is required. New instructors with less than one year of certified teaching experience are required to take our preparatory course to be eligible for an instructor position.

Our BC Rec personal trainers design safe and effective exercise programs catered to clients or specialty small group training programs, and administer assessments. All trainers work to develop knowledge of current fitness trends and training techniques. All staff in this role must be adult CPR/AED certified upon hire, and able to lift 45 lbs.

Additionally, certification and training is required. New trainers with less than one year of certified training experience are required to take our preparatory course to be eligible for a trainer position.

The program assistant works behind the scenes assisting the professional staff with daily operations. This position is usually filled once per year by a student who excels in organization and administrative work, and who has already worked in fitness in a different role.
