CPR/AED/FA for the Professional Rescuer
This course trains professional rescuers (those with a duty to act and provide care) in the skills necessary to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies.  Includes AED certification (automated external defibrillator).  The CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification is valid for two years.  This class also includes basic first aid care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

Lifeguarding CPR/FA/AED
This class teaches lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Upon successful completion of the course, each student will receive: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR PR and AED.

Lifeguard Recertification
The purpose of this course is to help participants achieve recertification in Lifeguard Training without having to take the full content course. Proof of valid certification is required for review course. Upon successful completion of the course, each student will receive Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.

Water Safety Instructor Training
Water Safety Instruction is an advanced swimming course designed for those who wish to become American Red Cross Swim Instructors. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be certified to teach all levels of swim lessons as well as the Community Water Safety Courses.

 

Child/ Infant CPR
Do you know what to do if your infant/child is choking or not breathing? If you answered no, then this class will is for you. The purpose of this course is to teach untrained bystanders how to perform hands-only CPR. There is no certificate for this course.

 

First Aid/ CPR / AED Instructor
To train instructor candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED courses. This course has been updated to include 2010 ECC Guidelines. It is very important that students review and follow the directions on the attachment included with this course. This is a Blended Learning course consisting of on-line content and classroom segments. On-line material must be completed prior to attending the classroom activities. For more information, please reference the attachment you will receive via e-mail when you register.

Prerequisites to Enter the Classroom Component

To participate in the First Aid/CPR/AED instructor course, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age on the last day of the instructor course.
  • Possess current American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and/or AED certification(s) or the equivalent.
  • Have successfully completed the online Orientation to the First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course
  • Have successfully completed the orientation to the American Red Cross. Be sure to review the 4 modules including History, Foundations, Key Services and Our Commitments
  • Have successfully completed the online First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Precourse Test (score 80 percent or better). This test is offered online.

Certification Requirement

To be certified as an instructor, you must:

  • Successfully complete the prerequisite requirement.
  • Attend and actively participate in all course sessions.
  • Successfully complete class activities including two practice-teaching assignments.
  • Score at least 80 percent (20 correct answers out of 25 questions) on the instructor written exam.
  • Complete the online Course Record Administration training in the American Red Cross Learning Center (recommended).
