We host a wide variety of recreational programs, including: fitness, aquatics, outdoor adventures, intramurals, club sports, tennis, dance, and youth programs. BC Rec memberships include access to both the Flynn Recreation Complex and the Quonset Hut, a satellite facility located on the Newton Campus.

Camaraderie: creating a foundational home for relationships and community at Boston College.
The growth of the University's student population during the 1960s convinced Athletic Director William J. Flynn that a recreational space for students and employees of Boston College was sorely needed. He suggested a $25 student recreation fee to help finance the project, and Boston College borrowed the necessary funds to complete it. The Recreation Complex opened in March 1972 and was dedicated to Flynn in 1979.
Architect Daniel Tully designed the building in the shape of a hyperbolic parabloid, creating an easily recognizable roofline on campus. Today, the 144,000 square foot facility features a 10,000 square foot fitness area, running track, tennis, basketball, volleyball, squash and racquetball courts, air-conditioned fitness studios, aquatics center with pool and dive well, saunas, and more!
