INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK

This event will be occurring nation-wide from November 12-16. IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to recognize the global exchange environment between the U.S.and other countries. CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK: US HIGHER EDUCATION AND YOU

Philip G. Altbach is the director of the Center for International Higher Education took part of a webchat for the U.S. Department of State intended to help students, parents, and teachers in Uzbekistan and across Central Asia to learn more about the U.S. higher education system -how degree programs are structured, what university courses are like, how U.S. and international students pay for their studies, what extracurricular activities are available, and many other aspects of university education in the United States. REMINDERS

Walk-in Hours begins Monday, November 26th. During the designated time slots, you will be able to get your immigration form signed immediately if you have all the required documents and forms completed. We hope that these hours will facilitate travel procedures for our international students and get answers to important questions.

Traveling outside the U.S.? Don't forget to get your I-20 signed! Read more about immigration information...
Moving? Please remember that all international students and scholars are required to report any change of address within 10 days of the change. Don't forget to change your address!
Register for classes for Spring Semester. Be sure you are enrolled for full time status. Read more about maintaining status. For assistance in registration, contact Student Services.
Optional Practical Training: If you are graduating this semester, please make sure to apply for OPT by the deadline.

The Graduate International Student Association (GISA) is a student association run for and by the Boston College international student community. If you are interested in becoming involved in this student-run organization and planning activities along with other graduate international students, please email Farooq Pasha, the GISA president for 2007-2008.

Graduate Student Discussion every Friday OISS with The Connors Family Learning Center and the Office of Graduate Student Life have weekly discussion series for graduate international students. Topics include culture shock, American Fashion, meeting new people. 1pm-2pm in Connors Family Learning Center Conference room. RSVP your attendance.

Student Clubs and Organizations: Looking to get involved with some of the BC clubs and organizations focused on cultural and ethnic groups and events? Find out how to contact and connect with them!

International Assistants plan some large group events for the first year and exchange students during the fall semester. Please talk with your IA to get the details about the upcoming Thanksgiving Celebration and Holiday Party!
